How To Use Pro Tips Ingredients

To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. Our semi-perms work best over pre-lightened hair, levels 7-10. Please refer to individual colors for the best starting level.
Squeeze your color into a plastic bowl. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
Do a strand test before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look.
Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair with a color brush or your fingers. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
Rinse with cool water.

To maximize the vibrancy of your newly semi-permanent dyed hair, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before your first shampoo. To minimize fading over time, rinse your hair with cool water each time you wash. Also, try reducing your hair washing days to extend the color even further.
We recommend pre-lightening your hair to a level 10 platinum blonde for the truest results, but Live Laugh Love works great on levels 8+.
This shade is very pigmented and will fade to a more reddish-pink tone.
Because of the pink hue, Live Laugh Love will eventually be a bit easier to remove from your hair.
Brunettes, if you’re feeling like having a little fun, you can even try experimenting with this shade without pre-lightening your hair.

Consistently AMAZED by GDY

"This is my second time trying GDY. The first one I tried was narwhal and I cannot describe just how AMAZING it was. It was SO VIBRANT! This time I went with this color, live laugh love. Did fresh bleach from a salon at 30 volume, it came out at about a nine on the GDY bleach scale, so a tiny bit yellow but nowhere near bad. It was THE BEST!!! I look so cute! The salon did use conditioner beforehand, whoopsie, but it still took so well. The first wash I did in freezing cold water and it did not bleed nearly at all, but I did only dye my bangs, tips, and undercut so there wasn’t much surface to bleed off of. After two washes it’s still beautifully vibrant and I would not only HIGHLY recommend, I’d also buy again. For my tips we died live laugh love over the nearly a year faded narwhal, and it turned into this GORGEOUS violet. I may even mix the two dyes for my next bang coloring. LOVE THIS BRAND!! Second photo is after two washes and it’s still a bit damp lmaooo"

Will this take well on level 6 virgin hair? I know the swatch displayed nicely on a level 6, but was it treated with lightener first?: Thank you so much for reaching out, this is a great question! Much like painting, the base of your hair can drastically affect what your end result will look like. Semi-permanent dyes work best on hair that is pre-lightened to a level 10. Not only does lightening your hair create the perfect base for your semi-permanent dye, it also increases the porosity of your hair, allowing the dye to stick better! We do have some shades that may add a tint to dark hair! Those shades are Rock Lobster, PPL Eater, Blue Ruin, and Live Laugh Love. All of these shades are super pigmented and will leave your hair with a beautiful tint! Do know that without lightening your hair, you may see the color fade faster. Thank you for confirming this dye is diluted now with the new formula. Will the price drop due to it being less pigmented?: Sorry for any confusion, adjusting the viscosity of a product doesn't mean it is watered down. Good Dye Young semi-perms still have the same pigment level and will last as long as always, but in this case we have adjusted the manufacturing process so the dye is less viscous and more easily applied and spread upon application.
