1. To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. Our semi-perms work best over pre-lightened hair, levels 7-10. Please refer to individual colors for the best starting level.

 2. Squeeze your color into a plastic bowl. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.

 3. Do a strand test before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look.

 4. Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair with a color brush or your fingers. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.

 5. Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.

 6. Rinse with cool water.

To maximize the vibrancy of your newly semi-permanent dyed hair, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before your first shampoo. To minimize fading over time, rinse your hair with cool water each time you wash. Also, try reducing your hair washing days to extend the color even further.

SO GOOD! best at home dye experience

"this dye and color are so pretty! it goes a long way too! when i got home and realized the tubes were only 5 ounces i was worried but two tubes were plenty for my fine but thick hair. i had about level 8 hair with highlights and it took so well. 10000/10 recommend this dye and this brand :)"

First time using semi-permanent

"The last time I box dyed my hair was 2022 and the hair I used GDY on was practically virgin hair (after bleaching twice). This is my first experience with semi permanent dye, and I’m pretty pleased! It doesn’t feel damaging at all. I haven’t used any special shampoo/conditioner to maintain the color. I wash my hair once a week, sometimes twice so the vibrant color lasted about 8 weeks before it faded to a rose gold and brown color which I then re-dyed. I’ll be trying a different GDY color next! First picture is 1 week after initial dying and two washes. Second and third photos are after re-dying and after 4 washes."

I love it , but it came out kinda pink

"I love how vibrant the color is but it has a lot of pink highlights, I was expecting it to be a dark red. I don't mind it that much, but I really wish it was the dark red I wished for."

Bleeds a bit but I LOVE it!

"The first few days it bled like CRAZY. I was waking up with stained a forehead and neck for a few days, and I had to rinse it out for like 30+ minutes in very chilly water to finally get it to stop. But… it was WORTH IT!!! I dyed it last Friday, and I’ve washed my hair multiple times since then (I typically wash every day/every other day depending on how gross my hair feels) and some days I shampoo twice while showering to get an extra clean. This has held up WELL! I know it’s been less than a week, but I’ve had dyes come out in that time frame with how frequently I wash. I’ve used GDY before in a different shade, but I’m never disappointed by the longevity. First picture is from the day I dyed it, second is from today (Wednesday after I dyed)."

Great vibrant color even for dark hair

"My hair is already darker to begin with but the color is extremely saturated. When you Wash your hair out it’s going to look like gallons of food dye poured everywhere so make sure you’re willing to deal with The clean up because it’s worth it!"

Ava (4/5)

Worked Great on Dark Hair

"I have dark brown hair naturally, like a level 4 or 5, and it turned my hair into a gorgeous burgundy. Absolutely love this product!!"

Q&A

Hi! I used this dye one time and the run off dyed my face, neck, back and all my towels for two washes I was wondering if that was normal or if there was something i could do to prevent this from happening in the future? I really dig the red shade but i can’t handle it turning me pink again
We're so glad to hear you liked the shade, and sorry to hear about the experience. Bright hair colors can tend to bleed more than natural colors. Our semi-permanent hair dyes were created to give intense, long lasting color and so are packed with salon-grade pigment. Here are some tips to help minimize this bleeding and staining: -When rinsing your hair for the first time, apply a generous amount of conditioner to hair to help remove all of the dye. -If possible, rinse your hair in the sink rather than the shower. This usually means the water can be colder, and won't run down your neck/back. -Wash in cool water and wait as long as possible in between washes. Frequent washing will strip the hair of color. -When washing your hair, use a sulfate-free shampoo. The suds from typical shampoos will remove the color. Only use enough shampoo to clean your scalp and scrub as little as possible. The shampoo from your scalp will rinse down and clean the rest of your hair. -Avoid contact with salt such as ocean water, chlorine, sea salt sprays and water softeners as these can cause bleeding. -Protect your skin from staining by applying shea butter, coconut oil, or thick hair conditioner to your hairline and over the ears, and even on your neck. -As for stained skin, makeup wipes are your best bet for removing leftover dye! We're here to help you on your vibrant hair journey. Email us at help@gooddyeyoung.com for custom advice from our stylist.
Does it matter what type of shampoo I use to wash my hair?
Thank you for reaching out! We recommend using a sulfate-free shampoo on color-treated hair. Our WASH Color Kind Shampoo is infused with a blend of Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, and Hibiscus Extracts. WASH is sulfate-free, paraben-free, cruelty-free, and vegan. It softens hair while gently cleansing color-treated and all hair types! This shampoo is formulated with color-protecting ingredients like Sunflower & Hibiscus to maintain the strength of your hair and the intensity of your shade. Hope this helps! TEAM GDY
Hello! I was researching your products, and I'm curious to know if it will work on dark brown hair. I haven't seen any photos of darker hair.
Hi Jeanette, Without knowing the level of your hair, we can't say for sure how All in This Together will show up. You can check out this video to see this shade over different hair levels. https://www.tiktok.com/@gooddyeyoung/video/7167444997690740010 Hope this helps. Or you can email us a picture at help@gooddyeyoung.com and we can give you a more precise answer. The GDY Team
hi my hair is currently a purple pink color if i put this on do you think it will make it darker? will it still come out the burgundy color
Hi abi, Yes, you can use All in This Together over your purple/pink hair and it will give you a darker shade. We recommend doing a patch test on a small section of hair so you can see what the shade will be. The final shade will depend on the current purple and pink shades and level, as well as your hair texture. Semi-permanent dyes are made of different pigments to create the final shade, so the purple and pink dyes in your hair will also mix with our burgundy shade. So do a small test first to make sure you'll like the final color. Let us know if you have any other questions. The GDY Team
I used this color for the first time last week and I love the way it turned out, and how my hair feels. The only thing is my hair bleeds whenever it gets wet, not just when shampooing and I’ve never had that happen before. What could be causing this?
Thank you so much for reaching out, we'd love to help you with this! You only have to rinse the semi-permanent dye out. Then wash as normal. All semi-permanent dyes are going to bleed but there are steps you can take to minimize this bleeding and staining. First, we suggest washing in a stainless steel sink or tub. This doesn't help much with bleeding but it's a great option to avoid staining your tub/shower and countertops. If you do end up with slight staining on your countertops/tub/shower, you can easily get the dye up with bleach based cleansers and hot water or by scrubbing a paste of baking soda and hot water onto the stain. Second, we suggest washing your hair sparsely in cold water. Not only will this help to keep your color vibrant for longer, it will help to minimize the amount of bleeding when you wash your hair. If you find that you've been washing your hair sparsely and in cold water and your hair is STILL bleeding excessively, we suggest washing once in hot water with a clarifying shampoo (something like Head and Shoulders!). This will probably fade your color a bit but it does tend to get rid of any excess dye in your scalp and hair which will help minimize bleeding. Finally, we suggest using makeup wipes or oil based makeup remover to remove dye from skin. You can email us at help@gooddyeyoung.com for more support! GDY TEAM
