How To Use Pro Tips Ingredients

To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. Our semi-perms work best over pre-lightened hair, levels 7-10. Please refer to individual colors for the best starting level.
Squeeze your color into a plastic bowl. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
Do a strand test before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look.
Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair with a color brush or your fingers. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
Rinse with cool water.

To maximize the vibrancy of your newly semi-permanent dyed hair, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before your first shampoo. To minimize fading over time, rinse your hair with cool water each time you wash.

"OKAY. So, I’m HORRID at digital reviews, because I’m often waiting at a MOMENT’s notice to yap about GDY to literally anyone who will listen. I went to a cosmetology school to get my hair professionally done while I was in undergrad (shout out Paul Mitchell :hands_heart|type_5::hands_heart|type_5:). When I moved to California, I stopped dyeing my hair because of the upkeep and I didn’t have anyone or products I used because I never did DIY dye. fast forward. I’m 30. I have a masters degree and I hate my life lmao. Why not dye your hair??? Perfectly queer to me. Okay. Did my research and learned Hayley Williams, the LITERAL icon of my eye has made a dye company?!??!? Hell yes?? (Hayley you probs don’t remember this, but you commented on my hair back in college when I dyed it to match yours at the time! 🩵🩵). Anyways. I’m stopped constantly with people raving about the vibrancy and depth of color. Personally, I’ve bought at least one tube of every major color and things I don’t have to worry about ❌Burning my scalp off ❌fading after a couple weeks (low key even months) ❌the smell of the dye being UNGODLY (this is seriously the best smelling product I’ve ever tried). I’ve even dyed my eyebrows with it (my little ✨showstopper✨ and it’s held up well for about a year going strong!). "I’ve been using Ppl Eater for about few months on my hair and I really like it! The color lasts pretty long (a few months) and I’ve only needed to touch it up a few times. It also fades into a beautiful lavender color which I love. The smell of the dye is actually quite nice, I’m pretty sensitive to strong fragrances but this dye just smells like orange essential oils which I personally enjoy the scent of. I currently have the ends of my hair bleached dyed with ex-girl but it’s pretty faded. If I put ppl eater over my faded ex-girl, will it still turn out purple?: We love a dip-dye! PPL Eater will cover faded Ex-Girl. However, the might be a slightly more pink-toned purple, think between PPL Eater and Front Row.

You can always send us a photo of your current faded color to help@gooddyeyoung.com and our color expert can take a look for the best recommendation. When covering a color, we recommend doing a test strand. Take a pretty small section of the faded color, and apply PPL Eater straight over the top and see what happens. Team GDY
What does it look like when it fades out? Does it fade to a lighter or different shade of purple or does it fade to blue?: PPL Eater is a blue-based purple and will fade more blue as you wash your hair. Our base is blue to get you to a cooler-toned purple from GDY. If you're looking to get a warmer purple, we suggest mixing our PPL Eater with our Ex-Girl.
Why do some boxes of PPL Eater state Methychlorisothiazolinone as an ingredient and some don't?
