How To Use Pro Tips Ingredients

To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. Our semi-perms work best over pre-lightened hair, levels 7-10. Please refer to individual colors for the best starting level.
Squeeze your color into a plastic bowl. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
Do a strand test before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look.
Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair with a color brush or your fingers. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
Rinse with cool water.

To maximize the vibrancy of your newly semi-permanent dyed hair, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before your first shampoo. To minimize fading over time, rinse your hair with cool water each time you wash. Also, try reducing your hair washing days to extend the color even further.
The pigments in pink hair dye are known to be one of the fastest-fading colors. Eventually, this dye will fade to a beautiful pastel pink.
Ex-Girl is most vivid on level 10 hair, but will show up on level 7+ hair.

"I have had pink hair for 3 years, and I've been using Ex-Girl now for almost 2 years. It is by far the best, most pigmented, and longest lasting hair dye I have ever used. The shade is absolutely beautiful on it's own, but I do tend to mix it with some conditioner to lighten it. Typically I have kept a signature look with the hot pink color, but more recently I've been enjoying some slightly lighter shades. The dye smells fantastic, lasts for WEEKS without having to retouch, and fades so evenly and perfectly. I was gifted this color but I decided I am enjoying the lighter shade of pink since my last application faded. Can this be diluted with conditioner or developer to achieve a lighter shade of pink?: We're glad to hear you're enjoying your color as it fades. To achieve this when dyeing, you can mix the color with Conditioner (GDY Rinse or otherwise). Another great tip - use Pink DYEposit as your main source of color (follow directions for use on packaging). TEAM GDY
Does ex-girl color greys well or will a lightning step still be suggested?: Some of our colors may add a tint to grey hair, but for the most part semi-permanent dye does not cover grey hair because cuticles tend to be closed. Pre-Lightening natural or virgin hair before a Good Dye Young application allows the cuticle to open so the dye molecules soak into the hair better. Semi-permanent dye molecules are larger and will sit on the outer portion of the cuticle if not pre-lightened, resulting in a less vibrant color. The farther the dye is pushed into the cuticle, the more vibrancy and longevity it will have. We understand that pre-lightening might not be your preference. If that’s the case, we recommend colors like Ex-Girl, Narwhal, Move Mountains, and All In This Together on your virgin grey hair for a less-vibrant final result. Team GDY
