How To Use Pro Tips Ingredients

To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. Our semi-perms work best over pre-lightened hair, levels 7-10. Please refer to individual colors for the best starting level.
Squeeze your color into a plastic bowl. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
Do a strand test before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look.
Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair with a color brush or your fingers. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
Rinse with cool water.

To maximize the vibrancy of your newly semi-permanent dyed hair, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before your first shampoo. To minimize fading over time, rinse your hair with cool water each time you wash. Plus: try reducing your hair washing days to extend the color even further.
Narwhal is a true teal, with green undertones rather than just blue.

If your hair has yellow tones in it before applying, it will cause Narwhal to appear more on the green side.

"I’m really not sure why it was SO different this time but I used narwhal with a tiny bit of limelight for my hair and the color is sooo dark. For reference, the picture with long hair is narwhal on level 9 hair in 2021 and the short hair is what was described above in 2026 (bowl of dye is 2026). The color isn’t bad, just not what it’s advertised at. I need to check to see if the other tubes of narwal ordered are this dark"

Best dye ever!!

"This is seriously the only dye I use when I want my color to last. I wash my hair maybe twice a week and used Narwhal diluted with conditioner almost 3 months ago and the color had barely faded. I've used many other colors before and they're all amazing. Very true to the color on the box, the fragrance is amazing without being too over powering (especially mixed with the Aussie conditioner=heaven) love love love this stuff"

While we don't make DYEposit in a 1:1 for Narwhal, you can use the below mix on wet hair, the same way you would DYEposit. Equal parts Narwhal Semi-Perm and Rinse Conditioner (or any color-safe conditioner)
