BEFORE & AFTERS

Level 10

The perfect base for the most vibrant and long-lasting results!

Level 9

Level 7

  1. To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. Our semi-perms work best over pre-lightened hair, levels 7-10. Please refer to individual colors for the best starting level.

  2. Squeeze your color into a plastic bowl. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.

  3. Do a strand test before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look.

  4. Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair with a color brush or your fingers. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.

  5. Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.

  6. Rinse with cool water.

  • To maximize the vibrancy of your newly semi-permanent dyed hair, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before your first shampoo. To minimize fading over time, rinse your hair with cool water each time you wash. Also, try reducing your hair washing days to extend the color even further.
  • We recommend pre-lightening your hair to a level 10 platinum blonde for the truest results, but Dream Big works great on levels 8+.
  • This shade is a deep and dark blue, almost like denim or the night sky, so it’ll last for a while. Reduces the number of washes to extend the length of the vibrant color.

Wrong color

"I expected a navy blue as advertised, i lightened my hair up to a level 8 and 9 yet i ended up with a tealish greenish color. I did everything as usual yet the color still came out wrong. Very disappointing :("

Exactly what I wanted

"I dyed this on level 9 hair as is to see how it would fade. First go it came out a super dusky midnight blue, loved it. As it faded the green tones definitely came out, and upon redyes it’s been a more vibrant blue than that initial. I recently bought purple eater to mix in and it’s PERFECT. True, real life blueberry skin color. Not as bright as Coraline but just as pigmented. Purple eater has done a really good job neutralizing those greens, so even after a few washes, it’s not teal like it was. My hair is super porous, so color exits just as easily as it enters. Your experience may be different, especially if you have naturally light hair. I’ve found this color has wayyyyy less transfer than AF. I’m not worried about my pillows and sheets at all."

Amazing product!

"Great color, easy to use, making fun colored hair an at home project. Rinsed out very easy, compared to some dyes that leave you rinsing for almost 30 minutes."

Jordon W. (5/5)

Great choice!

"I used this on my level 5/6 hair and it darkened it while giving a blue tint and it was exactly what I wanted. When rinsing I didn't find it to stain skin or tub. I love how GDY gives me the ability to experiment with expression in my own house, and it smells so good."

Worth the purchase! 🖤🖤🖤

"Though slightly more expensive, you def get what you’re paying for. Its thicker texture makes for an easier, more thorough application. The smell isn’t too strong, or chemical, which my sensory issues appreciate. Compared to its competitors, I’ve noticed it looks more vibrant on a natural brown base. The color options are right up my alley, and I’d still be excited to see more variety in the future. Overall, a brilliant brand venture that I’m excited to have found (shoutout to the Waterparks collab)!"

Lily E. (5/5)

Not the right shade

"This is a dark teal. It’s very green blue. I was hoping for more of a true navy. I def have mermaid vibes but I was hoping for like denim vibes."

Great feel and a rich

"Great feel and a rich color! This was my first time using this dye and I'm liking it so far! I will say it stains the skin pretty badly, but that's fairly expected w a color this dark :)"

Q&A

Do any of these colors bleed or stain your skin?
Hi Sabrina. Good Dye Young semi-permanent hair dye may temporarily stain skin. Here are some tips to keep in mind when using our products. -We recommend using gloves when applying to hair. -Protect your skin from staining by applying shea butter, coconut oil, or thick hair conditioner to your hairline and over the ears. -If you get a little GDY on your skin, try rubbing toothpaste or baking soda paste (baking soda mixed with a little bit of water) onto the stain with a toothbrush and gently scrub in circular motions. Bright hair colors can tend to bleed more than natural colors. Our semi-permanent hair dyes were created to give intense, long lasting color and are packed with pigment. Tips: -When rinsing your hair for the first time, apply a generous amount of conditioner to hair to help remove all of the dye. -Wash in cool water and wait as long as possible in between washes. Frequent washing will strip the hair of color. -When washing your hair, use a sulfate-free shampoo. The suds from typical shampoos will remove the color. Only use enough shampoo to clean your scalp and scrub as little as possible. The shampoo from your scalp will rinse down and clean the rest of your hair. -Avoid contact with salt such as ocean water, chlorine, sea salt sprays and water softeners as these can cause bleeding. Hope this helps! You can email us at help@gooddyeyoung.com if you have more questions. The GDY Team
Would Dream Big show up on medium brown hair? Would my hair become a dark blue?
Hi Estelle, Without knowing the level of your hair, we can't say for sure how Dream Big will show up. We have an example of how Dream Big looks on level 7 hair here on the product page. If your hair is any darker than that, then you may just get a tint on blue as a result. You can also try a patch test on a small section of your hair, preferably on the underside or somewhere not too visible, to see what the final result will be. You can also email us a picture of your hair so we can give you a more precise answer. Our email is help@gooddyeyoung.com. The GDY Team
