How To Use Pro Tips Ingredients

To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. Our semi-perms work best over pre-lightened hair, levels 7-10. Please refer to individual colors for the best starting level.
Squeeze your color into a plastic bowl. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
Do a strand test before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look.
Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair with a color brush or your fingers. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
Rinse with cool water.

To maximize the vibrancy of your newly semi-permanent dyed hair, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before your first shampoo. To minimize fading over time, rinse your hair with cool water each time you wash. Also, try reducing your hair washing days to extend the color even further.
Blue Ruin is a highly pigmented hair dye. This means it’s a long-lasting color that will fade into a lighter blue over time.
Blue Ruin will add a tint to darker hair and show up most vividly on level 7+ hair.
Blue Ruin tends to bleed the most out of all of our dyes. We suggest shampooing it thoroughly after dyeing to remove the excess pigment from the hair. Don’t worry; that color isn’t going anywhere! It’s super long-lasting and doesn’t budge.

"This color is genuinely the prettiest blue i’ve ever used. it doesn’t stain the skin bad, it doesn’t fade much at all, and it is so beautifully vibrant. been using this shade for about 3 years now. it’s also super conditioning, as i’ve bleached my hair multiple times within two weeks and used this brand and never had any breakage. pro tip: if your hair bleaches super yellow (like mine), mix a little bit of Ppl Eater (the purple shade) into your blue. pics of my hair freshly colored vs about 2 months later!"

Will never go back

"I love this dye. My first trip with blue ruin and is happened in August of 2025. I am sitting here may 10 2026 with dye in my hair right now. I just got tired of looking at my roots. It faded so beautifully. I also had ex girl underneath for cotton candy looking braids. 9 months and that pink stayed. I couldnt keep that in for work so I just did a whole head of blue ruin otherwise it would be there. Never had a blue or pink that lasted this long. I just love this dye. I reccomend it to everyone! My hair feels better, like it is a hair mask. Take a chance give it a try!"

"I decided to wait awhile before I shared my review. i dyed my hair towards the end of August of 2025. Let me tell you my hair is still colorful. It is so vivid and stayed this bright blue for a very long time. It has now faded but faded to the most beautiful color ever. Its still vivid enough to look like I dyed my hair this color. If you want a blue I reccomend giving this product a chance. Its the only brand ill ever use again!"

Did i get a bad batch?

"I use blue run along with rock lobster and two of the neon blues in the slide and a jade green from splat and the Jade green looks fine but the rest of my hair just looks kind of brown and muddy no vibrant hues nothing and I had lighten my hair too and ate her and I'm I left the dye in my hair for 24 hours so I don't understand why it looks like I dyed my hair 4 months ago instead of 4 hours ago."

Hi GDY, Loved this hair color but I'm kinda ready to move on to a Peach tone from your brand as well. My question is: Do I have to use a color remover first? And do you have one in your brand? Or could I just apply the lightening kit directly? Thanks!: When covering blue with peach, we recommend doing a test strand. Take a pretty small section of the faded color, and lighten it with our Lightening Kit. After you’ve rinsed it out, and waited for your hair to dry, apply the new color and see if it’s the desired result.
