How To Use Pro Tips Ingredients

To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. Our semi-perms work best over pre-lightened hair, levels 7-10. Please refer to individual colors for the best starting level.
Squeeze your color into a plastic bowl. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
Do a strand test before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look.
Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair with a color brush or your fingers. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
Rinse with cool water.

To maximize the vibrancy of your newly semi-permanent dyed hair, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before your first shampoo. To minimize fading over time, rinse your hair with cool water each time you wash. Plus: try reducing your hair washing days to extend the color even further, and use DYEposit - Red once a week to maintain your color.

Rock Lobster x All in this Together

"I combined Rock Lobster and All in this Together in a 2:1 ratio to get these results (over LEVEL 7 HAIR!) I wasn't up for bleaching my whole head at this time, so I'm grateful these are suuuuper pigmented! Definitely a bit of a messy job but so so worth it for these results."

"I bleached the used rock lobster and toxicity. I’m really happy with the results. Also sooo happy on how little damage was caused. I will definitely continue using. I’m very sensitive to smells and even the bleach was not that bad and my hair didn’t stink from the dye. So yeah definitely use this brand. I got the shampoo and conditioner and so far I’m liking those too."

Magnificent colour, could have better portions

"I LOVE the colour on this, its such a perfect deep and vibrant red and has lasted me a good while with my hair routine, favourite red ive ever used by a LONGSHOT! Again I got nothing

"Second time trying to use this brand of hair dye and again disappointing results. I bleached my hair to an eight or nine didn't use shampoo or conditioner in between added the Rock lobster to mostly dry hair left the dye in for about 24 hours and where it mixed with the blues I got a muddy Brown absolutely no bright red I'm really disappointed with this brand"

"This color is gorgeous. After a stint with Blue Ruin, I neutralized some bleach-washed but-stubborn ends with Riot before applying Rock Lobster. I love this color. I’m a ginger, so - for a couple days - I got to feel like a real Princess Ariel. That’s the problem, it washed out so quickly! I’m not rating low because I think it may have more to do with my hair being dead but I’m definitely going to have to go dark to fix it. Be careful you’re doing everything you can to make the color cling! I winged it and now I’m bummed :p (I wasn’t planning on leaving a photo review - the updo was taken one day after dyeing, the others are after 3 washes. )"

Q&A

Will the dye stain my tiles/grout. Current brand can’t be rinsed in our shower as it essentially stains anything it touches.: We recommend rinsing your hair in the sink rather than the shower to avoid staining surfaces such as your bathtub. We find it's easier to rinse with super cold water this way (which helps to rinse the hair, without bleeding the color).
I just want to use for my hair to look like Pennywise for Halloween I have medium brown would it be alright to use without lighting my hair: Thank you for reaching out. While Rock Lobster is pigmented enough to deposit color onto medium brown hair, the end results will be more maroon-toned vs. the true electric red with pink undertones you're looking for. We recommend pre-lightening your hair for the most vibrant results. Our dyes also work great on hair extensions and wigs, if you want to commit to the look for a shorter time.
My hair is a similar bright red, I’d love to use Rock Lobster to maintain it, I wonder how it go on the regrowth? Was the formula changed? When I used this color it came out looking metallic and did not stick to the hair at all. How long does it last (I shower twice sometimes once a day I spend about 15 minutes showering): The duration of the a dye application is a function of several factors, here are the main ones: -how porous your hair is. the younger you are, generally the more porous the hair and the longer the dye will last -how often you wash your hair - you wash 1-2 times/day, that will definitely shorten the duration -the temperature of the water you wash your hair with - the hotter the water the shorter the duration of the dye -the kind of shampoo - clarifying shampoos (pantene, garnier, head & shoulders, etc) will shorten the duration. Shampoos for color treated hair will help it last longer -The color of the dye - reds have smaller molecules and so generally last shorter than blues which have larger molecules We normally provide a range of 3-6 weeks to allow for these variations. For you, it is hard to say but you've used Rock Lobster and wash your hair frequently so you may be on the short side of our range, you may be 2-3 weeks and most of the color will be gone. If you want your color to last longer, we suggest you use our Red DYEposit and Color Kind Wash and Rinse products to lengthen the life of the application.
