How To Use Pro Tips Ingredients

To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. Our semi-perms work best over pre-lightened hair, levels 7-10. Please refer to individual colors for the best starting level.
Squeeze your color into a plastic bowl. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
Do a strand test before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look.
Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair with a color brush or your fingers. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
Rinse with cool water.

To maximize the vibrancy of your newly semi-permanent dyed hair, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before your first shampoo. To minimize fading over time, rinse your hair with cool water each time you wash. Plus: try reducing your hair washing days to extend the color even further.

"Divas when I tell you this is a bright yellow. It's serving highlighter yellow but more yellow. Sunshine, Sunflowers, Lemons. The yellowest of yellows. The glorious GDY formula we all know and love that leaves your hair smelling AMAZING. I experienced ALOT of random staining even after 2nd wash from SMS. I've stained bedding, my clothes, nails, hands and I wore gloves. It's not a complaint. The hair is still completely vibrant even after more washes, just something to note."

"My og color, hot pink by good dye young, took me much longer than most semi permanent hair dyes to naturally fade out (that's also how pinks and reds can be though). took me a while to get to the yellow without being a full traffic cone orange on top of my faded pink (I say that's a win). Consistency of product as a whole is on the much thicker side. In the picture shown: the yellow on the roots is on top of a faded yellow originally, and the rest over faded hot pink by good dye young. Genuinely such a good product with always such beautiful hydrating qualities. Thanks Hayley for making yellow the fun color it always should be :)"
