Reviews

Fantastic brand

"I've been using Good Dye Young for about a year and a half now, and it's the best smelling hair dye I've ever used. The texture is fantastic and the thickness makes application very easy. The vibrancy of color is very nice, though I've had a bit of trouble getting a lot of saturation out of the Dyeposit line for my touch ups. One of my go-tos if I want a good balance of price and quality."

"It’s a soft cream with good texture easy to blend in wet hair and leave a soft sensation and leave a touch up pretty awesome. I didn’t recognize any scent"

Didn’t colored my hair

"Great smell and my hair felt really hydrated and soft… but didn’t colored my hair at all, not even a bit 🥺🥺🥺 :("

Easy & Beautiful

"It’s is so easy to use and the payoff is great! Left my hair feeling and looking amazing! There isn’t a super strong scent to it, but you can definitely recognize the smell, but not in a bad way."

Don’t bother - just dye your hair

"I wanted to moved this product so much, but overall it was a dud for me. It didn’t do much for my hair colour, but worse it just made it feel so greasy and kind of gross. The packaging is terrible as well - I’ve bought it twice, and the conditioner is so thick that the cap just explodes off the tube and then you have a dye mess everywhere. Mostly just an annoying product."

Q&A

Greetings. If a person were to mix, say 1/3 riot demi-permanent with 2/3 earthworm demi-permanent and leave it on hair for two or three hours, will it damage hair? My goal is to cover white roots (about 30% white mixed with brown level 7-8). The preview patch test came out a light brown with red highlights on the white but only when left on for a few hours. When left on one hour it appeared rather pink. Thanks.
Our semi-permanent dyes are hair-healthy. You can process your hair with our semi-permanent dyes for a few hours, without sacrificing the integrity of your hair.
Hi can it be mixed with the nine more black ? I want my hair to be darker but I’m scared to commit
Hi Clarisse, Thanks for reaching out. You can definitely mix DYEposit with our Semi-Permanent shades to create custom colors. If you are looking for a specific color, please email us at help@gooddyeyoung.com with a picture of your hair goals, and some background on your hair (current color, have you dyed it recently, etc.), and we can help you with a custom mix! TEAM GDY
I currently used “all in this together” dye on my hair, but it is more bright than I had thought it was going to be. If I use dyeposit chocolate over it, will it tone it down and add more brown pigment?
Hi Lola, Thank you for reaching out. We'd love to help! Please send us an email at help@gooddyeyoung.com with pictures of your current hair so our expert colorist can make a personalized recommendation. Team GDY
If I have brown hair with blond bayalage will this remove the bayalage, make them darker, or not affect them at all?
Hi Carly, Thank you for reaching out about using DYEposit on natural and pre-lightened hair. Due to the pigments in DYEposit, you will see color payoff on both natural and pre-lightened hair - this includes highlights and balayage. Using Chocolate DYEposit over balayage will make the blonde portions a warm, slightly red-based chocolate brown if you choose to put chocolate DYEposit over your blonde sections. It may make your natural hair a little warmer too but not significantly, depending on the starting level of your hair. Your end result will still be dimensional with a warm chocolate/auburn brown on the highlights and won’t affect the natural very much. Let us know if you have any more questions - you can email us at help@gooddyeyoung.com. TEAM GDY
I have grown out my hair so it is mostly gray at this point. Would this be a good solution if I want to try color again without committing? I’m concerned it won’t completely fade and I will have the dreaded demarcation line that I worked years to get rid of.
Hi Jackie, Thank you for giving us some background on your hair. If you’re looking for a vibrant pop of color, it’s important to know that gray hair can be stubborn about holding onto pigments in dyes. Since DYEposit contains a lighter pigment load, it may only contain enough pigment to add a tint to gray hair. We do not suggest using Chocolate DYEposit for a natural brown shade, as the color payoff will not yield what you are looking for. If you are looking for a natural color to cover your grays, we suggest chatting with a professional stylist about a permanent dye. Our Chocolate DYEposit would be a great at-home maintenance if you have previously colored your hair a natural brown. Please email us at help@gooddyeyoung.com and we'll be happy to chat more! Thank you, Team GDY
