How To Use Pro Tips Ingredients

To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. Our semi-perms work best over pre-lightened hair, levels 7-10. Please refer to individual colors for the best starting level.
Squeeze your color into a plastic bowl. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
Do a strand test before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look.
Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair with a color brush or your fingers. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
Rinse with cool water.

To maximize the vibrancy of your newly semi-permanent dyed hair, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before your first shampoo. To minimize fading over time, rinse your hair with cool water each time you wash. Also, try reducing your hair washing days to extend the color even further.

"I used Devils Ivy for the first time on my client, Mikki. Ngl I was a bit hesitant because green dyes can and will do whatever they want. I was incredibly impressed by the color deposit and pay off; but most importantly, it was true to tone!!! My flabbers were ghasted. We also used Nasty, and Toxicity. Probably the cleanest color application ever because the formulation is perfect consistency and STAYS where you put it, isn’t runny and drippy, and the conditioning benefits were superb. "The green is just yellow unless you keep the dye in your hair for 5+ hours, and even then it’s not correct. Your hair has to either be dark or completely platinum blonde for it to look okay, and my hair is neither of which. I really hope the formula can improve for the sake of anyone who will be buying from this brand."

Bright colors at first!

"Used 3 colors in a melt, Ivy, Matcha, and Dream Big (Navy). The melt looked great when I first dyed it two weeks ago! The dark blue faded light super quickly , now it looks more teal. The light green (ivy) has also started to fade to a yellow tone. I really loved the original colors and the fades look nice, but keeping the exact color takes a bit more upkeep. These colors are great for cycling quickly!"

Finally! A green I can live with

"I love olive greens, but all the green hair colors only seemed to have more blue-leaning tones. So I was delighted to find Devil’s Ivy. My natural color is mostly bright silver (strands are actually clear), blending to medium brown at the nape. Application was easy enough, and I let it sit for an hour before rinsing. A little tough to rinse out, had some color on my towel after. I’ll be wearing a cotton beanie to bed just in case. Love the color! It’s very bright, with lots of shine. I would suggest a larger type on the directions or more contrast between the text and background, as it’s rather squinty."
