  1. To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit. Our semi-perms work best over pre-lightened hair, levels 7-10. Please refer to individual colors for the best starting level.

  2. Squeeze your color into a plastic bowl. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.

  3. Do a strand test before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look.

  4. Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair with a color brush or your fingers. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.

  5. Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.

  6. Rinse with cool water.

Faded Insanely Fast

"I've used two other colors from Good Dye Young and loved them! But this one faded so so fast, like in less than a week. And faded fully to a super light purple. The color itself was gorgeous and I'm so sad it didn't stick like the others."

Rose Mocha

"To start off- I lovvvveeeee GDY. I have used it since their first ever launch and haven't really been disappointed with colors. I had ordered Rose Mocha just a few weeks ago and finally put it in my hair. I started around a level 8- a little lighter even- and on the product site it shows that it should take. My hair did not take the dye well. It's supposed to have like a dark reddish brown but all I got was a light chest nut ish brown. I have never had an issue with GDY and am extremely disappointed with this infusion color. It's really frustrating because for it to be $18 and to not show up at all. . . UGH. I really hope that they fix this line."

Not expected

"I love GDY and I’ve used the many times in the past and I’ve wanted to try this color since it came out but I hate my hair now. It looks nothing like the photos. I know I can get results I want from past purchases but this one isn’t at all like advertised."

Sheer dye

"Disappointing color pay off on my hair. This dye is SO sheer it makes me want to scream. The product color they show on the website & the hair color on the models is beautifully dark. I decided to bleach my hair before application. Just a few bumps up from my normal brunette color. It Didn’t lift too light, but I wasn’t concerned because this is advertised as a darker shade. Once I washed it out it had tinted my hair a weird orange rose color. I’ve got more boxes of this as I was expecting this to be my new color but sadly this won’t be the case & money wasted."

Inaccurate color, faded in TEN DAYS

"I've really enjoyed GDY products that I've used in the past. The colors have been vibrant, the pigments lasted longer than advertised, and it's been so gentle on my hair. Rose Mocha is none of those things. I expected a reddish brown, and got a rose gold color (Hair lightened to about a 2, all provided instructions followed to the letter). Not terrible to look at, but not what I was expecting. That's fine, I can live with that! However, it's been only ten days since I applied the dye, and it has faded into an ashy purple. Zero evidence that my hair is supposed to be red. I hope I just got dye from an "off batch" or something, but the number of negative reviews leads me to think otherwise. I'm thrilled that the people with positive reviews had a good experience, but do yourself a favor and listen to the negative ones. There are plenty of options from GDY that actually work"

Don’t buy this shade

"I followed all the directions. I used the GDY hair lighting kit and went in with rose mocha and once dried it came out nothing like the picture. There was absolutely no brown and just made my hair copper orange/rose gold , I got better results using a drugstore box dye :/"

Rose mocha? More like rose gold. . .

"I was so excited for this dye! I've got a dirty blonde hair color, so I was looking forward to a darker reddish brown like the photos suggested. My hair looks maybe half a shade darker and only the very tips of my hair have any hint of redness to them. It doesn't look awful and my hair feels better than it normally does after other dye brands. But it's definitely not the color as advertised or anything like that which was disappointing."

A little light

"Felt like the color payoff was a little off / light compared to the box"

Faded Copper Rose Gold

"I had faded red hair, so pretty much blonde. Decided to try this since I usually mix Earthworm, AITT, and Toxicity to get the red I want. I left it on for 1hr. My hair came out more of a copper rose gold color. Still love it. Will add Earthworm and AITT next time to see what took I achieve."

Diana c. (4/5)

Rose Gold, not Rose Mocha

"I bleached using the GDY lightening kit, toned using GDY toner, dried, and applied the color. . . It turned Rose Gold. Where did all the mocha go???? I'm not happy at all with how the color came out, and I understand certain shades may absorb differently due to porosity, but I feel like there should be images of people with different porosity in the advertising for this color. Very different than what I was expecting."
