Summer Cool Down Series: Icy Blue

As summer comes to a close, it’s time to turn down the heat with this trendy icy blue hair look. Blending denim blue with silver creates a cool, refreshing shade that is pastel and muted but bold and vibrant. Like your favorite pair of daisy dukes, a denim blue shade like Stage Dive adds depth and richness, while the silver infuses a light, frosty sheen that keeps your hair looking airy and bright. This multidimensional color mixture effortlessly captures the essence of a crisp, cool breeze on a hot summer day. Here’s how to chill out with this icy blue hair look.

Here's What You'll Need for Icy Green Hair:

  1. 3 parts Stage Dive
  2. 1 part Gravedigger
  3. Conditioner (optional)

How to Achieve the Best Icy Green Hair:

  1. Lighten for the perfect canvas: Whether you are dying all of your hair or just a section, you should lighten your hair before applying your semi-permanent shade for the best, most vibrant results. For a light, pastel shade — so you will need to lighten to a level 9 or 10.
  2. Prepare your hair: Start with clean, dry hair. Use a clarifying shampoo to remove any product buildup, ensuring your hair is ready to absorb your new color.
  3. Saturate your strands: Mix 3 parts Stage Dive, 1 part Gravedigger, and Conditioner together in a bowl. To keep your application even and consistent, section into four quadrants. Apply your mixture on the roots first, making sure to saturate fully. After, apply to the rest of the hair starting from the nape and working up. To ensure proper saturation, continue working in quarter-inch sections, and for every 2-4 inches of hair, apply a new dollop of color.
  4. Rinse with cold water: Always remember to rinse your semi-permanent shade with cool water. Cool water closes the cuticle, sealing in the pigment. Good Dye Young semi-permanents have a conditioning, cream-based formula, so there is no need to condition the hair afterward.
  5. Style with a heat protectant: Vibrant hair is sensitive to fading from UV and heat exposure, so be sure to prep the hair with Prime Hair Primer Mist prior to styling.
