At GDY, we love pushing the boundaries of creativity with vibrant hair color creations, but every so often, we come across a look that makes us stop, stare, and feel something. And we recently saw a hair transformation that truly lit a spark within us, created and shared on TikTok by our friend @jacmystyle. A look that we love so much that we are lovingly calling it: Slow Burn.
You’ve probably seen those mesmerizing booktok “slow burn” romance tropes — the ones where the chemistry builds and builds until it’s just too much to ignore. Well, we’re here to tell you that we just witnessed a hair slow burn that we can’t get enough of — and it all started with a color correction. Jaclyn only used one semi-permanent shade to go from faded pink to fire: Glow On, AKA the brightest neon highlighter yellow that we have in the bunch.
THE COLOR THEORY BEHIND THIS HAIR COLOR CORRECTION
When a neon yellow Glow On is applied over pink, the yellow and red pigments mix to create a warm, fiery red. Pink has red and purple undertones, so the yellow intensifies the red, resulting in a rich, vibrant shade.
You’ll see in Jaclyn’s video that she has a small section of hair that is lighter than the rest. On the lighter parts of the pink, the neon yellow shifts this section toward orange, creating a glowing orange gradient toward the center which flawlessly emphasizes the slow burn flame effect.
