The high fashion debut of bows & ribbons on the catwalk struts close on the heels of one of the latest social media aesthetics to surface in 2023: Balletcore. A celebration of girlhood, whimsical femininity, and soft romance, Balletcore features delicate pinks, elegant ballet shoes, white tights, lace, and of course, bows… lots of them.
Most commonly seen at the top of sleek, slicked-back ponytails or weaved into coquette-esque braids, bows are also being tied in brand new ways. One of Hayley’s fave designers Sandy Liang debuted a draped bow bag and bow tights on the runway, while alt-inspired designer Collina Strada texturized models’ hair with playful organza ribbons that fell and framed their faces like pieces of hair themselves.
Beyond hair, you can use bows to "coquettify" a top with decorative sleeves, put bows on your Apple headphones, or add ribbons to the bottom of your jeans.
