Meet the community behind the color. To celebrate 10 years of Good Dye Young, we put out a casting call on social media and invited our community to help us tell our story. In less than 24 hours, more than 500 people applied to be part of our Decade of Dye campaign. From those submissions, we selected 8 community members to represent the 8 original shades that launched GDY back in 2016.

“3-4 years!”
While Allie is currently rocking Steal My Sunshine, she is no stranger to GDY’s OG Shades. As she experimented and played throughout the course of her bold color journey, she has also fallen in love with Ex-Girl and Rock Lobster.
What is your favorite thing about Good Dye Young?
“That it is owned by Hayley — but also because it works. Also, the Bergamot scent is sooo good”
Throughout their many years of friendship and creative collaboration, Hayley and Brian have experimented with their fair share of hair dye brands. Instead of searching and settling for complicated mixtures from different brands that sacrificed quality and hair health, they eventually realized that they could develop their own formulas — ones that do really work, like Allie says.
What does community mean to you?
“Community is everything! It’s where I go to have fun, share my hobbies, and get support. Community is your chosen family! <3”

The Story Behind the Shade: Steal My Sunshine
Like every original GDY shade name, Steal My Sunshine came from the creative world Hayley and Brian were building when they launched the brand, drawing inspiration from the films, music, pop culture references, and the stories they loved.
A bright, sunny yellow, this shade is named after the 1999 hit song by the band Len. Steal My Sunshine is a name that evokes a feeling of carefree, joyful energy and '90s nostalgia. Most importantly, it encourages a happy and vibrant form of self-expression.
