How To Dye Your Extensions with Semi-Permanent Color

Using semi-permanent dye on extensions is the best way to play with pops of color without the commitment that comes with dying and maintaining a vibrant shade on your real hair.

HOW TO DYE YOUR EXTENSIONS A SOLID COLOR

    1. Mix in a bowl and apply using a brush with your Biodegradable Tool Kit.

    2. Lay your extension on a piece of foil while you apply. You can fold this foil over your extension white the color processes.

    3. Use up & down motions with your brush to saturate the extension. Avoid using too many side-to-side brush strokes.

    4. Brush through your extension with a wide tooth comb.

    5. Rinse with cold water and shampoo with Wash!

HOW TO DYE YOUR EXTENSIONS WITH BALAYAGE

    1. Like a painter’s palette, set aside a separate piece of foil to dispense quarter-size amounts of the colors you will be using.

    2. Begin to apply your first color with the brush from your Biodegradable Tool Kit.

    3. Using a rattail comb, back comb the bottom of the extension to create a teased section in the middle of your extension.

    4. Saturate the teased section with the same color you used on top.

    5. Saturate the bottom half of your extension with your second color.

    6. Fold your extension in the foil and let it process for 30 minutes.

    7. Rinse with cold water, making sure to wash out the top half holding the extension upside down so it does not bleed into your second color.

HOW TO DYE YOUR EXTENSIONS A SUNSET GRADIENT

    1. Choose 3 semi-permanent colors in the same color family and create a painter’s palette on a separate piece of foil, dispensing quarter-size amounts of the colors you will be using.

    2. From the top of the extension to the bottom, apply your colors in three even sections using up and down motions with your brush.

    3. Flip over your extension and saturate each section.

    4. Fold your extension in the foil and let it process for 30 minutes.

    5. Rinse with cold water, being careful to prevent color bleeding from muddying your final result.

HOW TO DYE YOUR EXTENSIONS WITH A RACCOON TAIL

    1. Choose 2 semi-permanent colors and take turns applying your colors in an alternating pattern with two separate brushes.

    2. From the top of the extension to the bottom, apply your colors using small up and down motions with your brush. Be careful not to blend your colors.

    3. Flip over your extension and saturate each section.

    4. Fold your extension in the foil and let it process for 30 minutes.

    5. Rinse with cold water, being careful to prevent color bleeding from muddying your final result.
