GDY None More Black

(24 customer reviews)

“It’s like… ‘how much more black could this be?’… And the answer is… ‘None’.” A violet undertone keeps the color shiny and true.

Note: We created None More Black to be used as an additive to darken our other semi-permanent colors. We don’t suggest using None More Black on its own.

  • With semi-permanent black dyes, the underlying pigments (blue, purple) can tend to stick to blonde hair, causing the hair to appear dark purple or blue.

      Hi there,

I’m glad you like the smell, but sorry you are disappointed in the color. We recommend using None More Black as a mixer to darken other colors rather than on its own. Due to the color makeup of black if you use it on its own the blue pigments may come through more as you experienced. Thanks for your review.

I bought this to mix with kowabunga for a forest green look for my Christmas hair and it looked great the first time! But after the first wash my hair was turquoise blue..then the third wash and my hair is BRIGHT BLUE I’m not sure if it’s just because the undertones shine through but I’m warning y’all stay away from this if you don’t want blue undertones with whatever color you plan on 🙂

So Purple People Eater was my first experience with gooddyeyoung and it wasn’t a good one(stained my hair for months), but I won’t go into that here. I decided to give it another try with None More Black, because I really want to like it. 1. It smells great. 2. Non-damaging. 3. Hayley always. So here I am, one month later with a broken soul and a bleach bath in front of me, asking you to be wary of this product. Did a strand test, dyed it, and all was peachy the first week, but things steadily started going down hill from there. One wash in and my roots started to fade(less chemically treated than the rest), everything else started turning patchy and dark green by the second wash. I use gentle/color safe shampoo and conditioner. It was grabbing my employers and clients attention by that time and I’ve had to put my hair up in a hat since. I can’t afford to go to the salon, but instead I’ve spent and arm and leg worth on every color removal method I could find in the past month. Nothing has worked. Not to be dramatic, but I’ve never felt uglier, I cry ever other day and stare at my partners clippers thinking about shearing it all off. I really loved my hair, I’ve been growing it out for the past two years and now it’s ruined along with my fragile self-esteem. So yeah.. save yourself the hurt.

I’m someone who always loved inky blue black hair (think Pocahontas, or Milo from Pepper Ann) so I was excited (and a little scared) to have my hair be that color. However, its true black, with vague undertones of purple. It IS very shiny, and I have coarse Type 4 Hair. So that’s a big bonus for me. I do have little stripping in my hands, but I moisturize with rich products, so I’m used to that by now. I do recommend rinsing in the sink, or in the yard if you have a water hose. You don’t wanna deal with that staining in your tub. Overall, I’m satisfied with the color. I might even layer PPL Eater or Blue Ruin over it for more of that undertone that I was hoping for. For the time being, the color is, even (I took my time with application) and definitely something I can live with. #ThankYouBasedHayley
