This product was TERRIBLE. It was clumpy & no matter what I tried, it looked like paste. Totally unlike the pink I bought, which went on smooth & looked great. This Blue Ruin looked has the texture of a smashed up crayon. Nothing worked. Brushing, heat, put on dry, wet, nothing. It flaked like blue dandruff. Compared to the pink, there is obviously something wrong with this color batch. It is unwearable ghastly rubbish.

What I think people fail to realize is that not only is this a styling product but it is also not supposed to replace full head professional hair dye. This is for experimentation, for fast, quick and easy fun. It’s fun and simple. You also need to make sure your hair isn’t already lacking in the moisture department before putting it on, otherwise what do you expect?

This product worked well for me. I didn’t have issues getting it off my hands (I did put a light coat of coconut oil on my hands before hand, because of reading comments that it’s hard to get off). I put a bit on my bangs and it looks super cute and fun and easy without the commitment of bleach and dying. I honestly reccomend this for quick fun. This product is even good for if you don’t know if a colour fits your skin tone, you can use poser paste to decide if you really want to bleach and dye your hair a colour.

Again, I’m pretty sure this product was intended for fast cute festival fun or for a little spice during the week. Not to replace a full head professional hair dying situation lol. Good stuff
    Love u Hayley

      Hello!

Our Poser Paste is a perfect way to quickly add some temporary color to your hair. No commitment, high style, and super fun! To get product off of your hands, we’ve found that makeup removing wipes work very, very well. Our Hair Makeup is fully intended to add a quick pop of color to your hair, not to replace dyeing a full head of hair.

If you have any questions, please let us know!

It could be worse but it could definitely be miles better.
To start with a positive, the smell is AMAZING. I could easily smell it all day, however I didn’t pay lots of money for a good smell.

I know it’s wax based, but the texture of it is terrible. It makes my hair look like it’s not been washed for at least a month, and it makes my hair stick to my head. Also, brushing doesn’t make it look anymore ‘natural’ than if you just placed it on your hair. It’s stained my fingers and my hair multiple times and overall, it is NOT for all hair types.

Great in theory, fail in practice so far. However, I do have hope that this could become something amazing with some evolution of the product.

    • Becca Sievers

      Hi Bailey!

Thanks for your review on Poser Paste. Because it is wax based, Poser Paste does leave your hair with texture. Poser Paste definitely takes some practice. We have several Poser Paste tutorials on our YouTube channel as well as our Instagram. If you ever have any questions on product usage, I would love to answer them personally. Feel free to send me an email at hey@gooddyeyoung.com with any questions you might have!

    Absolutely TERRIBLE. DO NOT BUY.

I even tried watching the videos online. Should not require this much finesse. Made my ends look green instead of blue and made a SUPER sticky, disgusting mess. When combing through, the color fades even more, but the stick doesn’t go away. Had to wash twice to get it out.

WARNING: Their return policy is THE WORST. You can’t return anything that has been opened. Probably because their product is terrible and they would lose so much money. They are THIEVES who DO NOT stand behind their product.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

    • Becca Sievers

      Hey!

We are so sorry you had a poor experience with our Poser Paste. Poser Paste does take some getting used to! Poser Paste is a wax based product so it will leave some texture in your hair. Combing out Poser Paste will give you a softer look! We suggest using an exfoliating type shampoos (like our Pre-Wash) to completely remove Poser Paste. As stated in our return policy, we can only accept product that has been unopened and unused. If there is anything we can do for you please email us at info@gooddyeyoung.com!

It dries so quickly. It felt like I was putting clay in my hair. Once I finished applying it my hair was a chalky mess. I was really excited to try it but now I wish I would have just bought the semi permanent hair dye.

I am really enjoying this product. The Blue Ruin color is great! It’s fun, bright and is perfect for my hair style. One thing I have noticed is that it does not blend well with other moisturizing products. I’m Black and I have thick, coiled hair and moisturizing is a MUST; so sometimes my coconut/castor oil mixed with the poser paste create flakes. So if you are a POC or you have hair texture that needs oils/hair lotion often, be advised! I noticed that using lighter amounts of oil when styling my hair doesn’t make the dye flake as much. Overall I highly recommend and I will continue having fun with it 🙂

    • Hallie from GDY

      Hey Savannah!
Thank you so much for this info! We hope you continue to have fun with Poser Paste!

Didn’t wash off my hands easily like it says it will.
I spent 15 minutes washing my hands and scrubbing them.

Had to ultrasonic clean my wedding ring just to get it off
Makes your hair unmanageable and unstylable.
For $26 after shipping I’m really really reaaaally disappointed.

I love you Hayley but this product needs a revamp.

    • Hallie from GDY

      Hey Katy!
We’re sorry you had a negative experience with Poser Paste. Poser Paste is a wax-based product, and we recommend “exfoliating” type shampoos and soaps to fully remove. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to help!
      xx dye happy,

  8. audreyc (verified owner)

I absolutely love this product! It is easy to apply and if you comb it out after blow drying it looks like hair dye. I usually can wear it for about 3-4 days before washing it out.The only thing I would recommend for other people is to scrub the colored hair and let the soap sit a minute before rinsing out. I will definitely be buying poser paste again.

    • Hallie from GDY

      Hi Audrey!
Thank you for showing Poser Paste some love! Poser Paste is a wax-based product, and we recommend “exfoliating” type shampoos and soaps to fully remove.

The blue stays for a while but I mean the longer the better! I have bleach blonde hair so my hair type picks up color Very easily. Love it ?

  11. Kaia

It took me 10 washes to get this out of my hair! After the first wash, it left it all greasy and residue-y. Otherwise, showed up good in my dark brown hair.

  12. Aira (verified owner)

I really like the idea for this product 🙂 the only issue I have with it is how hard and crusty it makes your hair. I bought this shade and it’s probably the best one for people with dark hair. I wish the formula was a little different so it could go/stay on the hair a little smoother. I also do wish that once the paste sets (has been brushed out and styled) it wouldn’t flake off :/ anytime I touch my hair, it flakes EVERYWHERE. This product is great in theory and such, but I’d really like it if the formula were different.

This product worked really nice for me! I have more of a medium shade of brown hair, and putting this into my bangs worked really well for me – it’s buildable and easy to wash out at the end of the day. I love this product!

  14. Clare

I was so excited about the release of this line that I bought it almost immediately! Boy, was I disappointed! I have long thick hair and I am used to having to spend a long time styling but Lord! I spent an hour and a half working this through just a few strands of my hair and it didn’t even show up well! The closest comparison I can think of for its texture is play-doh. And it made the same sort of play-doh mess all over my bathroom. It did wash off my skin pretty easily with soap. Overall, I really did not like this product.

From day one, Brian and I listed Clementine from the movie Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind as an inspiration for some of our shades. When her character is first introduced, she talks mostly of her hair, which is dyed – rather unevenly (haha) – a bold blue… “It’s called ‘Blue Ruin’. Snappy name right?” – Hayley

HOW TO APPLY
1. Take a small amount out of the jar, rub fingers together, and apply the color to clean, dry hair.
2. Start small and build up the color until you achieve the vibrancy you want. Color can be used as an accent on the ends, to paint sections of a braid, to slick back a ponytail, or to color the entire head…the only limit is your imagination.
3. The product dries quickly, so work in small sections. To tone down the color and achieve a more ‘natural’ look, brush it out right away. Otherwise, style as you apply until your heart’s content. Heat tools are fine once the product dries.
4. Wear the color as long as you want and wash it when you’re over it with your favorite shampoo. Note that you may need to shampoo more than once to fully remove the product, depending on how much you apply.

ARTISTRY TIPS

  • Consider the color of your hair when choosing a shade, as it may impact the undertone of your Poser Paste.
  • The colors mix well together. Get creative to make your own custom shade.
  • If you can’t choose just one shade, try some color blocking by using different shades on different sections of the hair.
  • BTW, this works beautifully on curly hair: scrunch it into your hair like curl cream to maintain the shape of your ringlets.

HOW TO REMOVE

  • Wet your hair and shampoo like normal. You may need to shampoo more than once to fully remove all of your Poser Paste, depending on how much you applied.
  • If color gets on your clothes, wait until it dries and use a lint roller to remove.
  • To clean your brush or comb, use makeup remover wipes to break down the product and then rinse with warm water.
  • Clean color from your hands with soap and warm water. Baby or makeup remover wipes work well if you’re on the go.
